Team Suzuki in full attendance at Weston 2009
Weston 2009

Suzuki GB race teams, Anderson ATV and MKM Rocketman Suzuki, both fielded riders in this year’s Weston Beach Race. It was Anderson ATV’s David Baldwin who blasted his LT-R450 to the best result of the weekend, scoring a spectacular 5th place out of 400 competitors.

MKM Rocketman Suzuki’s Sam Barrett claimed a highly respectable 18th position at the end of the 3-hour endurance race. Barrett combined his specially prepared QuadRacer 450 with his enduro riding experience to work his way around 18 laps of the rutted, sand course.

Current QRA pro class rider Jason Wildman also represented MKM Rocketman Suzuki. Despite being caught up in an accident on the first straight and subsequently getting stuck on the notoriously difficult first dunes, Wildman went on to finish the race in 48th place.

Carl Bunce looked set for another top result after claiming 3rd place at the previous two beach races. A perfect launch saw Bunce near the front of the pack, powering his Anderson ATV Suzuki LT-R450 into 2nd position. After seven blisteringly fast laps the deeply rutted, wet and sandy conditions conspired against Bunce, forcing him to retire early with overheating issues.

Top 5 Finish At Blaxhall Pits
Blaxhall Pits Racing DriverTeam Suzuki Anderson ATV continued their MMX campaign at Blaxhall Pits this weekend, with both riders claiming top ten positions in round eight of the championship.

The best result of the weekend came from Carl Bunce as he muscled his LT-R450 around the loose circuit conditions to claim 4th place in race one. A number of small mistakes in race two meant Bunce had to work hard to claim an 8th place finish by the end of the race. Bunce left the weekend with 5th position overall and some important points for his championship battle.

Mark Watson looked set for a promising weekend after setting the fastest lap in qualifying on Saturday. Cashing in on a good start in race one rewarded him with 6th place, despite picking up a puncture four laps from the end. A first corner accident in race two left Watson to fight through the 30-rider pack, at the end of the 25-minute race he had worked all the way up to 10th position.

Team Manager, Paul Anderson, commented, "A strong weekend for the team with the ATVs running faultlessly and all finishes inside the top ten. Carl's performance has pushed him up to 5th in the championship and not far off the trail of 4th place. Mark's energetic riding ensured two decent finishes despite the setbacks."

You can see the team compete in round nine of the MMX championship at Culham, Oxfordshire on 20th September.

Round eight overall results:

1st Paul Winrow, 2nd Stefan Murphy, 3rd Jason MacBeth, 4th John Mitchell, 5th Carl Bunce, 6th Justin Reid, 7th William Waggott, 8th Mark Watson, 9th Leon Beda, 10th Paul Holmes.
