Team Anderson ATV Suzuki proved their potential this weekend in round six of the ACU British MMX Championship, as Mark Watson took the overall win on his Suzuki LT-R450. Having been plagued with bad luck and injuries so far this season, the much deserving rider Mark Watson brought home a 1st in race one and a 2nd in race two, rewarding the team with their first ever overall round win. After powering his LT-R450 off the line in race one, Watson was in 3rd position by the first turn and leading within two laps. After opening an extensive lead on his rivals, Watson relaxed into a smooth pace and comfortably claimed the win. An equally impressive start in race two saw him up to 2nd position. After following race leader Paul Winrow for a number of laps, Watson muscled past using the full width of the track and the superior handling of his LT-R450. After leading the majority of the race, Watson was held up by a back marker on the last lap, allowing Winrow to pass and take the win. However a great 2nd place finish meant Watson had secured the overall round win. Team mate Carl Bunce secured some good points for his championship standing with a 10th place in race one and an 8th in race two, resulting in 9th overall at the end of the weekend. Team manager Paul Anderson summed up the weekend, “I am thrilled with the team’s performance, we have been building up to this win for a long time and we have proved that we have the set-up to mount a serious challenge. Mark has made a fantastic recovery from his injury and is back on form already.” The team are back in action at Fife, Scotland on 2nd August. Overall round 6 results: 1st Mark Watson, 2nd Paul Winrow, 3rd Paul Holmes, 4th Justin Reid, 5th Jason MacBeth, 6th John Mitchell, 7th William Waggott, 8th David Wray, 9th Carl Bunce, 10th Stefan Murphy |
