This weekend saw Team Anderson ATV Suzuki travel to Desertmartin, Northern Ireland for the third round of the ACU British MMX Championship. After great improvements last round, and a good qualifying session seeing Mark Watson in 4th and Carl Bunce in 8th the team looked on form. However, a weekend plagued with bad weather and accidents was to prove extremely challenging for the team.
Bunce had a difficult start to race one, persistent rain in the morning had left challenging track conditions and a multi ATV pile-up squandered his progress. After rejoining near the back of the group he managed to work his way up to 11th position by the end of the race.
Watson on the other hand steered clear of the first race pile up on his Suzuki LT-R450 and was running in 3rd place, close on the heels of 2nd. An unfortunate rear suspension problem restricted his progress, but not being one to give up, Watson battled on and managed to salvage a few points for the championship battle with a 14th place finish.
Race two and Watson made a flying start, only to be involved in a devastating first corner accident where he was thrown from the ATV and rushed to Belfast hospital with a broken collarbone. |

This weekend saw team Anderson ATV Suzuki travel to Duns, Scotland, where riders Mark Watson and Carl Bunce claimed 4th and 7th positions in the second round of the ACU British MMX Championship. No.6 rider Bunce made a flying start to race 1 on his Suzuki LT-R450 as he broke away from the pack in second position, unfortunately Bunce couldn't settle into his usual rhythm and dropped back to 7th place by the end of the race. No.85 rider Watson recovered from a difficult start and put in some astonishing laps to pass team mate Bunce and claim 5th place. The hard-pack circuit with dry conditions saw some incredibly fast paced racing, with Watson and his QuadRacer 450 battling in the top 5, who were separated by less than a second for most of race 2. After a couple of small mistakes Watson was passed by Leon Beda, but still managed a great 5th place finish. |

Take two top tens in opening MMX round |
Team Suzuki Anderson ATV competed in the first round of the ACU British MMX Championship at Mildenhall this weekend and came away with two top ten positions overall.
Arriving eager to start their 2009 campaign, the team impressed in Saturday’s qualifying session, with riders Carl Bunce and Mark Watson pushing each other around the tight, technical track to claim the fourth and fifth quickest lap times of 1:49.543 and 1:49.604 respectively.
Mark Watson has been out of action through the winter after a serious knee operation, however his first appearance on the 2009 Suzuki LT-R450 didn’t disappoint. Claiming two seventh place finishes rewarded Mark with seventh place overall.
Team mate Carl Bunce also had a productive weekend on his Suzuki QuadRacer 450. After achieving tenth place in race one and improving to eighth in race two with a change of tyres, Bunce settled with ninth place overall.
Team Manager Paul Anderson commented “I think we have made a good start to the season with both riders scoring solid points in both races. Considering this was our first chance to develop settings, the LT-R450 performed superbly and I am pleased with the team’s performance this weekend”.
