Ricky Tordoff took his Team Anderson ATV Suzuki LT-R450 to victory in the first round of the EMX European Motorcycle Union Quad Cup at Bielstein in Germany on Sunday, taking a win and a third place in the two races.
This weekend witnessed Anderson’s ATV rider Ricky Tordoff romp home to a superb Suzuki win at the European Championships held in Bilstein, Germany. Riding the Suzuki LT-R450, Ricky finished ahead of the reigning British champion John Mitchell, and Romaine Douprie who dominated the recent QRA British Championship round at Frome.
Ricky endured a physically demanding thirty-five minute race on a challenging track with long, fast corners. Any mistake could have sent him hurtling towards one of the trackside barriers. Thankfully, Ricky’s skill and his high performance LT-R450 both stood up to the test, securing him first place.
With only one second separating the top nine riders in the first qualifying race, Ricky confidently started a respectable 8th place. Ricky then managed to produce an electrifying hole-shot, taking first place on the first corner and holding this premier position throughout the race.
The second race produced more obstacles as a few of the local favourites got the measure of Ricky’s winning tactics and together with the unforgiving nature of track denied him chances for overtaking. Nevertheless, Ricky swiftly moved through the field to third place, which he held to the end securing him the overall victory.
Ricky rode the LT-R450, as previously used by Stephan Murphy, preferring the feel to his own usual LTR. Ricky’s confidence was boosted as he thought the Suzuki was in superb form; in particular the suspension, which seemed ideally suited to the challenging circuit.
On completing his win Ricky commented,
“Everything has finally come together. I feel great for the team and all the hard work by Anderson ATV in particular Paul and my family, this has made me feel very proud.”
“We’ve proved that the Suzuki LTR-450 has the speed and the reliability to be a real weapon in quad racing. I’m looking forward to the next British round at Desertmartin in Northern Ireland.” Ricky also wished to extend thanks to Suzuki and Paul for their continuing support.
